An Excerpt from The Boy's Custom-Made Father's Day Card
The Boy made me a Father’s Day card in school. He wrote his own name on it, and dictated the body of the message to his teacher, who wrote it down. One sentence:
I like it when you play bat-and-ball with me in the backyard.
Me, too.
I like it when you play bat-and-ball with me in the backyard.
Me, too.

What a nice story. My daughter gave a card to her dad this morning, which she had "signed" in her own not-quite-two-year-old way. But when she saw abundant white space when he opened it, she immediately took it away and brought it back with a giraffe sticker and red crayon circles (her newest talent) all over it. It was much improved.
